• Food (in the raw, to smell, eat and examine)
• Day to day life (the work day organisation and crafts used)
• Clothes (Children’s dress from 1540 – 1600, look at them and try them on)

Using replica kitchen equipment and dishes of popular Tudor food, taken from period recipe books, and vegetables to touch, smell and taste.

Key Stage 3 & 4 – Historical themed days

• History of medicine and its uses within the home. (Make a simple remedy to take home)
• History of table manners and etiquette in dining. (Experience a simple feast)
• History of spinning and its uses. (Try your hand at drop spindles and learn the spinning wheel)
• History of dairy and make butter!
• History of bee keeping Tudor style. (Learn how Tudors kept bees and taste some elderflower honey from our bees and make a simple wax candle to take home).

Using the stillroom chest full of natural ingredients see how mothers used to treat their sick relatives and make pomander beads to take home, or try a spinning wheel and learn to use a drop spindle. Look at fleece and make it into yarn.
